60HR Online Yoga Philosophy Course

Starting January 2020 - Join us ONLINE!

This course will be an in-depth exploration of the foundations of yoga:

philosophy, meditation, and Sanskrit language. 

 

In 25 online sessions held over 15 months, we will discuss Patanjali’s Yoga Sutra, the Bhagavad Gita, Samkya philosophy, experience a wide variety of yoga meditation practices, and learn the basics of the Sanskrit alphabet and pronunciation.

YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN THIS COURSE FROM ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD

Led by Robyn Love, Chase Bossart, Jyoti Chittur, and Dr. Patricia Dold, the online classes will be held LIVE every other Monday evening starting in January 2020. 

We will record all sessions so that you are able to watch the recordings later at your own convenience. A self-directed study project based on one aspect covered in this training will be part of the program. 

 

Foundations of Yoga is open to anyone interested in deepening their yoga practice. 

If you have questions like:

  • How is yoga different from physical fitness? 

  • Why do I feel better when I do yoga?

Or simply are interested in what yoga has to offer beyond group studio classes, this course will introduce and explore the ideas that have guided students of yoga for millennia.  This course may also compliment a 200HR yoga teacher training.

 

*Yoga Alliance and International Association of Yoga Therapists continuing education credits will be available for those who qualify.

Robyn Love, Yoga Instructor + Therapist

Mentor

 

Robyn is a yoga therapist with over 1500 hours of training in the Sri Krishnamacharya/TKV Desikachar tradition, which is geared towards one-on-one, individualized practices with a therapeutic emphasis. Her training includes a yoga therapy internship at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai, India. Her teachers include Chase Bossart, Dolphi Wertenbaker, Amy Wheeler, and Guta Hedewig. Robyn also is a jukai student in the Mountains and Rivers Order of Zen Buddhism, where she has practiced since 2004.

  • Has done over 600 hours of YTT with Guta Hedewig and the New York Yoga School

Chase Bossart

Founder and Director of the Yoga Well Institute

Chase, M.A. is a longtime personal student of Mr. T.K.V. Desikachar. He has extensive experience in the therapeutic application of yoga in the tradition of S’ri T. Krishnamacharya and T.K.V. Desikachar.

Chase is the former Director of Therapy & Education at the non-profit Healing Yoga Foundation in San Francisco. He gives frequent workshops on a broad range of yoga topics throughout the U.S. and especially loves to lead experiential workshops demonstrating yoga philosophy’s practical applications in daily life.

Jyoti Chittur

Sanskrit Instructor

 

Jyoti was born into a family steeped in the Vaishnava tradition and initiated into the Sampradaya. She learned Sanskrit and Chanting from her grandfather who, during his time, was a scholar of the Vedas and the Scriptures. Her father, an educator, taught her Yoga in the traditional style encompassing the physical, spiritual and elemental aspects of the practice. Her mother, a devout devotee, instilled in her the tradition and practice of Bhakti and Seva. She teaches Sanskrit and Yoga and is an alumnus of Yoga Sutra.
